Financial Affairs become the first ‘Friends of’ CARES

Financial Affairs are proud to once again step up within the local community for another worthwhile cause.

We have partnered with Burnley charity CARES to help raise funds for vital cancer equipment.

Last year alone, their designer charity shop, Labels, donated an incredible £75,000 to Burnley General Hospital for the purchase of an endoscope and scope guide. This impressive piece of machinery will help detect early cancer in both adults and children.

“We are of course immensely proud to have become the first Friends of CARES”, explains our managing director, Laurence O’Connor.

“We’ve worked with the charity for the past two years, helping them with the insurance for their shop, and supporting in a number of other areas. That might be helping out by volunteering or spreading the message, it might be donating some money to buy stock or just donating some money.”

“We try and align ourselves with charities that can have the most impact locally, and we really believe CARES is just that.”

What is Friends of Cares?

‘Friends of CARES’ involves businesses choosing CARES as one of their main charities with a pledge to offer support through a single one-off donation.

The charity is providing vital preventative equipment for the cancer department at Burnley General Hospital and are fully endorsed by the NHS and the East Lancashire Hospital Trust.

Currently, the Labels shop is the only source of income aside from donations. This is a new initiative designed to bring extra revenue into the charity. 100% of the money from the shop transactions goes directly to the cause.

Once a business joins the ‘Friends of’ scheme, they will be able to make use of the charity logo. They will get a certificate to hang in their place of work and be invited to an annual special event. This will all contribute to a business’s corporate social responsibility activities.
