Big-thinking Burnley firm’s £70k expansion plans

A forward-thinking Burnley family company has announced plans to invest £70,000 in expanding the business.

Financial Affairs, set up in 1972 by Michael O’Connor, is an insurance and financial services company based on Standish Street in Burnley.

And Michael’s son Laurence – who is now managing director of the family firm – has big plans to take the business forward.

Laurence has embarked on a three-year investment programme which has kicked off with the launch of a brand new Financial Affairs website,

The website is designed to give customers a clearer overview of all of the services provided by the company.

Plans to invest in a makeover of the company’s Standish Street headquarters will see a brand new façade unveiled within the next 12 months.

Significant investment in marketing will see Financial Affairs appearing on billboards and banners across the town, while a heightened focus on social media aims to attract and engage with new business and personal customers via dedicated Twitter and YouTube channels.

The company has also upgraded its software system to improve efficiency for existing clients.

Managing director Laurence, who works alongside brother and fellow director Gavin, said: “Being a family business sets us apart and enables us to provide that personal touch clients deserve – it’s what we’re known for.

“Financial Affairs has flourished over the years – now, we not only provide insurance products for individuals and business customers, we’ve expanded our services to offer solutions for multinational corporate clients as well as developing a dedicated financial services division too.

“Naturally, this makes it an opportune time to upgrade systems, shout about our expertise and modernise our premises. This three-year plan is designed to enhance our professional outlook to complement our experience and trusted service to customers, as well as enthusing our fantastically loyal and hardworking staff.”
